Detour Utah to Bunny’s in Coalville
Local bluegrass favorites Detour Utah have been making a name for themselves all summer playing every-other-Wednesday night at Bunny’s, a private club for members (and others) in Coalville. In fact, the band’s Aug. 23 season finale gig was so popular that Andrea at Bunny’s has asked the group back for another big night, Wed. Sept. 6 with no cover and a $10 steak cookout!
Bunny’s is a classic small town roadhouse with a friendly staff, pool table, and lots of regular locals. But what really sets it apart is the backyard where fans sit on plastic deck chairs, chow down on steak and listen to some darn good Utah bluegrass. Bunny’s owner Andrea mans the grill, turning out huge steaks grilled to order, baked potatoes with all the trimmings and salad all for just 10 bucks.
Detour Utah has its roots in the Utah bluegrass community and basically just love playing together. Our good friend Walt Evans is one of the mainstays of the band. In its recent outing a decent crowd of 15-20 locals and bluegrass fans packed Bunny’s backyard while the band played three sets of classic bluegrass and some of their own regional favorites.
The best news is that those who missed the band’s finale in August will get a reprieve with the Wed. Sept. 6 performance. Get there by 7 p.m. to get a good seat, but the band and grill will be going for much of the evening. Click here for directions to Bunny’s. But you can’t miss it. Just head to Coalville, it’s at 36 S. Main.
